Concordia University
Engineering, Computer Science & Visual Arts Building
Concordia University contracted for the construction of the new Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts building located on the northwest corner of Guy and Saint Catherine Streets in downtown Montreal. The 17 storey building consolidates all research and testing activities under a single roof.
State-of-the-art research facilities contain engineering equipment and heavy, wet and clean laboratories as well as computer rooms.
The complex also includes a 13 storey building which houses the Visual Arts Faculty. The complex includes a three level underground Fitness and Wellness Center and tunnels linking it to the Montreal subway and nearby Concordia buildings.
The construction was executed in three phases:
- Phase 1 – Excavation and retaining wall
- Phase 2 – Structure – concrete
- Phase 3 – Exterior envelope, mechanical/electrical and all interior finishes.
The project encountered delays and cost overruns.
Revay and Associates was mandated by one of the major contractors for the preparation of a claim. Our mandate consisted of:
- Review of the project documents and development of the project history
- Preparation of delay analyses for substructure and superstructure
- Evaluation of compensable delays
- Quantification of damages
