Plaza Bridge – Confederation Square
The Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton together with the National Capital Commission was reconstructing Wellington Street and adjacent streets in a phased construction. Tenders were called in 1997 to reconstruction the Plaza Bridge over the Rideau Canal in the heart of the City of Ottawa.
The construction program affected access to the Conference Centre, the Chateau Laurier Hotel, the War Memorial, the Langevin Building as well as traffic on Wellington and Elgin Streets.
In the contract documents, the Region included rigid scheduling requirements.
Completion of this work by the end of 1999 is essential in view of the activities planned for the area in the year 2000.
Doran Contractors Limited, the low bidder, engaged us to assist in developing a working schedule for this complex and critical $17,000,000 project.
Our task was to:
- Review tender documents;
- Prepare a work breakdown structure; and
- Prepare a preliminary detailed project schedule including a network diagram.
