Gerard Boyle is a senior claims analyst and project management specialist. Prior to joining Revay, he worked for over 25 years in construction project management and has been certified as a Gold Seal Project Manager by the Canadian Construction Association.
As a senior claims analyst, Gerard has both prepared and reviewed claims and expert reports requiring delay, productivity, schedule and cost analysis for owners, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers as well as their legal counsel. These claims have involved a wide range and scale of construction project types including: airports, water treatment plants, industrial, commercial and institutional building, and road construction projects. He has also provided services in support of the successful settlement of claims, developing negotiation strategies and actively participating in the negotiations, as well as expert advice in mediations and arbitrations.
Complementing Gerard’s claims work is his role in providing large scale projects with specialized project management services including: overall project management oversight; earned value analysis; schedule and cost monitoring, analysis, and reporting; development of work breakdown structures; risk analysis including conducting risk workshops and creating risk registers, Monte Carlo simulations, and mitigating action plans; front-end document review; change management; and claims mediation. He has provided these services throughout the life of the project, starting with design and through to the construction and close-out phases.
Gerard’s expertise in project management and claims analysis, facility with computer software, and extensive experience in contracting suited him ideally to develop a Contractor Performance Evaluation System, which he recently completed for a major municipality.
Gerard has particular interest and expertise in the use of technology to manage construction projects and gain competitive advantage, and was a featured speaker on this topic at the 2002 Construction Canada conference. He has developed a protocol for a large infrastructure project to manage project/program communications and procedures (e.g. – RFI’s, Changes, Shop drawing control, etc.) on a collaborative web site platform. Gerard has facility with a variety of scheduling and project management software products including Microsoft Project, Primavera (P3, P6), and Pertmaster.
Gerard frequently lectures and presents seminars on a variety of project management topics. His writing on these topics has been published in Canada and the United States.
